Bentley Renovates Double-Decker London Bus for Charity

It's charity time for Bentley that today handed over a luxuriously renovated London Routemaster double-decker bus to the hospice St Luke's at its Crew headquarters. The hospice, which is based in Winsford, Cheshire, acquired the former London Routemaster bus in April and asked Bentley for help in its restoration.

The British automaker agreed to take over the project which involved 59 workers and took around 2,000 hours to complete. Among other things, Bentley used hand stitched leather with the St Luke's and Bentley logos while craftsmen from the firm's woodshop, tool room and maintenance departments developed bespoke work surfaces, rails, kitchen unit and shelves.

The St Luke hospice will use the bus as a traveling shop for colleges and universities as well as an education and awareness base to visit schools and other events.
