APS Does it Again, Announces New Tunes for VW Golf R with up to 350HP

Now that Volkswagen has broadened the availability of the Golf R by officially confirming sales for North America, the tunes for the range-topping German hatch have just become a bit more interesting. APS of Brackley, has just announced three stages of performance tuning for the 2.0-litre TFSI, all-wheel drive Golf R, with two being available immediately and the third to be offered in a little while.

The British firm's Stage 1 kit consists only of a ECU remap, which is good enough to increase peak output from 267bhp to 308 bhp. It is priced at £445.00 including VAT (US$705 / €525).

The Stage 2 package is more comprehensive and includes a Milltek large bore turbo down pipe, high flow sports catalyst and a choice of Milltek stainless steel sports exhausts, featuring a switchable electronic exhaust valve, 2.75 inch bore tubing and dual 100mm ceramic black tailpipes.

APS said customers can choose between a Milltek non-resonated cat-back system, which emphasizes performance and "aural excitement", or a resonated Milltek cat back exhaust, which majors on refinement and also benefits from EC type approval. Depending on the exhaust choice, output is lifted to around 320-330bhp. The Stage 2 kit is priced from £1999 (US$3,165 / €2,355) fitted and including VAT.

Last but not least, APS is readying a Stage 3 package, which comes complete with a revised turbocharger boosting output to 350 bhp. The tuner said the kit is still in development but will be released onto the market soon.

In addition to the power upgrades, APS also offers a range of chassis upgrades for the VW Golf R such as a three way adjustable Haldex Gen4 four wheel drive controller, sports lowering springs, KW height and damping adjustable coilover suspension, uprated suspension bushes, Brembo GT big brake kits, plus 18 or 19 inch Sportec Mono 10 forged alloy wheels with Toyo tires.

APS Sportec Builds 425HP Audi S5, as fast as RS5 in 0-62mph sprint

Last time we checked (as in a few minutes ago on the UK, US and German sites), the S5 Coupe continues to use Audi's venerable 4.2-liter V8 with 354HP, while the S5 Convertible comes with a 333HP 3.0-liter supercharged V6. Nevertheless, APS, the UK-based importer of the Swiss tuning brand Sportec, has released a performance upgrade for the S5 Coupe and Convertible with the... 3.0 TSI V6.

In any case, labeled "Stage One", the Swiss tuner's performance package for Audi's 3.0 TSI V6 consists of a free flowing air filter element and an ECU remap. While it doesn't sound like much, it manages to squeeze another 97-horsepower out of the S5's (convertible) 3.0-liter V6 unit, boosting total output from 328 bhp and 440 Nm (325 lb.ft) to an RS5-rivaling 425 bhp at 6,640 rpm and 520 Nm (379 lb.ft) at 4,250 rpm.

Sportec says the upgrade trims 0-62mph (100km/h) acceleration by 0.5 seconds to 4.6 seconds (same as RS5 Coupe) while top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph (250km/h).

The Stage One upgrade is available now in the UK from APS Sportec priced at £1,950 fitted including VAT.

APS Sportec Rolls Out Tuning Packages for Porsche Panamera Turbo

Few would call the new Porsche Panamera Turbo a slouch in the horsepower department, but if you happen to be one them, you may want to take a look at the new performance enhancement program from APS, the UK importer of the Swiss tuning firm Sportec.

Buyers can start off with the Stage One conversion that uses a reprogrammed ECU with optimized settings for fueling, ignition and turbo boost parameters to bump the V8's output from a quoted 493bhp and 516 lb-ft, to a dyno proven 560bhp at 6,150 rpm and 576 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque at 3,340 rpm.

With this kit, the German sports saloon can sprint to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.9 seconds, a 0.3 seconds improvement over the standard model, while top speed is electronically limited to 195mph (315km/h). The ECU upgrade is priced at £,2900 fitted and including tax.

If that's not enough, Sportec has developed a Stage Two package. Along with the recalibrated ECU, the kit adds of a cat back stainless steel sports exhaust system featuring quad 90mm tail pipes and a pair of 'sound throttles' that allow the driver to adjust the sound levels using a supplied remote control.

In this case, power is kicked up to 575 bhp at 5,800 rpm and 598 lb-ft 820 Nm (820 Nm) between 3,000-4,250 rpm. The tuner claims 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration takes 3.8 seconds, while top speed is once again limited to 195mph (315km/h). This package will set you back £7,990.

The company also offers a variety of other upgrades including 22 inch forged alloy wheels, suspension and braking systems, as well as cosmetic enhancements.

Sportec Boosts Audi TT RS to 400HP with Stage 1 Upgrade Kit

Audi TT RS coupe and roadster owners are starting to get more options when choosing to upgrade their vehicle. Following MCCHIP's performance kit, APS of Brackley, UK importer for the Sportec range, announced the launch of a Stage One engine package that pushes the German sports car's 2.5-liter turbocharged five cylinder output to a hefty 400 horsepower.

Sportec's kit remaps the factory model's ECU increasing power from 340HP at 5,400 rpm and 450Nm (328lb.ft) at 1,600rpm to 400 horsepower at 5,800rpm and 544Nm (401 lb.ft) of maximum torque at 2650rpm

The Swiss tuner says that after the conversion, the 0-100 km/h (62mph) sprint time for the Audi TT RS falls from 4.6 to 4.2 seconds while the company claims that in-gear acceleration times are "greatly improved". The Stage One package also includes the removal of the factory 250km/h or 155mph top speed limiter.

The kit is priced in the UK at £1,200 fitted (including VAT) and is covered by a guarantee - though APS did not disclose details on the time period.

The firm also revealed that a full program of additional complimentary performance, dynamic and styling upgrades for the Audi TT RS are currently under development with more details to be released at a later stage. For the record, the pictures below are of the factory TT RS.

Sportec Tweaks the VW Golf VI GT 1.4-liter TSI to 200HP

Mostly known for its Porsche proposals, Swiss based tuner Sportec has now released a new range of performance enhancements for the latest generation VW Golf GT that is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI gasoline engine. In standard form, the turbo-and-supercharged 1.4 TSI makes 160HP and 240Nm or 177lb.ft of torque. With Sportec's Stage 1 kit that includes recalibration of the fuel, ignition timing and boost pressure settings via the ECU remap, power increases to 200HP at 5,000 rpm and 286Nm or 211 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm, or about at the same levels as the previous Golf GTI.

With the performance kit, the Golf GT's 0-100 km/h (0-62mph) acceleration time is reduced from 8.2 to 6.8 seconds, while the 0-180 km/h (111mph) time arrives 3.2 seconds earlier than before.

The downside is a slight increase in fuel consumption from 6.3 lt/100km (37.3mpg US) to 6.7lt/100km (35mpg US) while the conversion also requires the use of higher octane Super Unleaded fuel.

Aside from the Stage 1 engine kit, Sportec also offers a full range of performance and styling enhancements, including exhausts, suspension and braking components, as showcased on the Sportec SC200 1.4 TSI car pictured in the gallery.

Sportec Porsche 911 Turbo SPR1 with 858HP and 236mph - 380km/h Plus Top Speed

The standard Porsche 911 Turbo's 480HP 3.6-liter bi-turbocharged flat six is by no means a slouch, but where there's power, there's always space for even more power. Or at least that's what Porsche tuning specialist Sportec believes. The Swiss based tuner revealed a new version of its 911 Turbo based SPR1 that lifts the 3.6-liter flat six's output to a staggering 858 horsepower at 8,200 rpm and 642 lb-ft of peak torque at 4,800 rpm. Power is transferred to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Weighing in at 1,345kg or 2,965 lbs, the power-to-weight ratio is 637 horsepower per ton. According to Sportec, the SPR1 takes a mere 3.0 seconds to hit 62mph (100km/h,) with 186mph (300km/h) coming in just 18.9 seconds. The Swiss firm said that the supercar has recorded a top speed in excess of 236mph or 380km/h at Nardo, Italy.

Other highlights of the SPR1 include titanium connecting rods, a flat carbon fiber under floor, active suspension and F1 style ceramic brake discs plus composite (carbon / Kevlar) body panels, 20-inch forged alloy wheels, an integrated safety cage and a leather / alcantara interior.

Volkswagen Scirocco SC 350 Tuned by Sportec with up to 350HP

Swiss tuning specialist Sportec has turned its attention on the Volkswagen Scirocco with the release of a new performance package. Among other things, Sportec's program consists of engine upgrades, a sports suspension, alloy wheels rims and other components. For the Scirocco 2.0 TFSI 200HP, Sportec offers various performance optimizations that boost the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine's output from 240HP to 350HP. In the most powerful version, the maximum torque takes a massive leap from 280 to 480Nm (354 lbs/ft).

To achieve these figures, the Swiss tuner's engineers modified the 2.0 TFSI's supercharger, updated the ECU and replaced the stock exhaust system with a new free flowing one. A carbon-fiber engine cover completes the package.

To improve the Scirocco's handling, Sportec developed a new sports suspension that brings the coupe 35 mm closer to the ground while the coupe now sits on 20-inch alloy wheels shod in 245/30 high-performance sport tires.

Finally, for the interior, the Swiss tuner offers a 4-part floor mat set made of soft velour and a multi-part carbon interior with the Sportec logo.
