Citroën to Debut Production Version of DS4 next week

This just in; a couple of days ago, we told you about Citroën's plans to unveil the first photos of a new model or concept on Monday, August 30th, ahead of its Paris Motor Show debut. We asked around and according to our sources, the French car maker will reveal the DS4, which is the production version of the Geneva Show DS High Rider concept, next week - possibly, as early as Monday.

Unfortunately, our sources didn't confirm or deny that this is the car Citroën teased us about in Friday's video (see here). That said, we wouldn't be surprised if the French automaker has more than one new model [or concept] to show us in the next few days. We'll just have to wait and see to find out.

Citroën teases new model before August 30th reveal. Can you guess what it is?

Being that the world's largest motor show of the year takes place on its home turf of Paris, Citroën is readying several debuts for next month's automotive fest in France. Today, the automaker released this conceptual teaser video of an unknown car that will be revealed online on Monday, August 30th, ahead of its world premiere at the Paris Auto Show. The video doesn't show much, but we did notice the DS logo on the background.

There's a good possibility the car featured in the video is the production version of the Geneva show DS High Rider concept, otherwise known as the DS4. However, it may be something different altogether like the long rumored DS5 . Watch the video after the break and tell us what you think.

VIDEO: Citroen's MINI Cooper JCW Fighting DS3 Racing 200HP

Here's the first official video clip of the limited edition Citroen DS3 Racing that will be formally introduced at the Geneva Motor Show next week. A creation of Citroen's Racing division that handles the firm's World Rally Championship cars, the DS3 Racing will be produced in a strictly limited number of 1,000 units.

The hottest variant yet of the French automaker's premium supermini is powered by a tweaked version of the BMW-PSA Citroen Peugeot co-developed 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that's also used on the rivaling MINI Cooper JCW model. In the DS3 Racing, the 1.6 THP delivers an output of 200HP.

Understandably, the engineers at Citroen Racing didn't stop at the engine as the DS3's suspension, steering wheel and braking components were also upgraded to further improve driver's feedback and handling. For more details and photos, click here.

Citroen DS High Rider Concept Previews DS4 Crossover, will Debut in Geneva

After a handful of dark teaser shots, Citroen today unleashed a slew of images of its new DS High Rider concept car that is set to be launched at the Geneva Salon on March 2. As anticipated, the DS High Rider is more of a pre-production model that teases the upcoming DS4 that than a pure conceptual study.

The second member of Citroen's growing DS family after the DS3 supermini is a strange mix of a C-segment three-door hatchback with muscular details, a gently sloping roof line and heightened ride.

With a few exceptions such as the fabric roof and the polished 19-inch alloy wheels, what you see in these pictures is what you'll get when the DS4 goes into production early next year.

The four seater hatch is based on the next-generation C4's platform and hardware. It measures 4.26m in length, 1.82m in width and 1.48m height, meaning it's slightly shorter but wider and taller than the current C4 Coupe.

The production model's powertrains are most likely to be borrowed from the next C4, though there's a strong possibility that we may see the concept model's 'full-hybrid' diesel-electric drivetrain that combines a HDi engine under the bonnet and an electric motor located on the rear axle being offered in the near future.

According to Citroen, both engines of the hybrid system combine to deliver additional power with additional torque transmitted to the rear wheels.

Expect to see the production DS4 making its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show this fall.

Upmarket Citroen DS4 Teased Prior to Geneva Motor Show

In the same way it did with the DS3 supermini, Citroen is slowly taking the covers off the second member of its premium DS family, the DS4, before its formal debut -most likely in pre-production guise- at next month's Geneva Salon.

The slightly increased ride height suggests that the three-door DS4 may step into crossover territory, further differentiating it from the next-generation C4 hatchback with which it shares its platform and mechanical hardware.

Like the DS3, one of the selling points of the production DS4 will be its bespoke customization options.

Expect to see Citroen releasing more photos and details on the DS4 over the next few days.
